P-Tah grew up a few miles east
of Kingston. Harbor View was a prime place for creativity, as it housed
so many of Jamaica’s finest musicians, artists and athletes. As a kid
living in Jamaica, in an era best described as ‘The Roaring ‘60s’, P-Tah
took interest in building vacuum tube amplifiers and speaker boxes.
Thereafter, he started collecting records and began selecting sound
systems. “Music was always a part of me, and writing lyrics was what I
wanted to do.” Then in 1978, P-Tah linked up with fellow resident and
bass player, Courtney, and Sammy to establish their own Writers label and
group, the True Persuaders. The trio released three songs between
1979-81on their own, and four more for another producer. Now P-Tah is
determined to release all of the True Persuaders songs still on tape in
this new millennium. In the early-80’s, P-tah started playing keyboard
and melodica, and moved on to form another group, K.R.U.U.D.
“Babies sing before they talk,
and music is the key to our survival.”
“My time will come for just
reward.”
